Our Arrangers

This concert features arrangements from the 60's to the 2010's by the inimitable Tiffany Johns, Caleb Gomes, and Chris O'Brien. The concert will close with a new work by Everett Kelly, inspired by his jazz fusion band SicNarf.

Caleb Gomes

Caleb (they/them) is a Seattle-based composer, arranger, and music collaborator. They received their Bachelor's of Music in Music Theory and Composition from Southern Illinois University Carbondale in 2019 and their Master's of Music for Film and Digital Media from the Pacific Northwest Film Scoring Program at SFI in the summer of 2020. Since 2022 they have acted as music supervisor, editor, and additional music writer for nearly a dozen feature films for Reel One Entertainment, a Lifetime films production company.

Caleb’s arrangements have been performed nationally by a large variety of ensembles including the Colorado and Baltimore symphonies, Brass Animals of New Orleans, and the President’s Own Army Band Wind Quintet. As a music collaborator, they have worked as a transcriber, orchestrator, and copyist for several prestigious ensembles, such as the Gay Men’s Chorus of Los Angeles, as well as internationally-renowned artists and composers such as Steve Hackman and Mark Kilian.

Caleb is also a seasoned brass musician, currently performing with several ensembles throughout the Seattle area including the Seattle Kraken Red Alert.

Everett Kelly

Everett Kelly is a trumpet player and composer from Los Angeles, California. Everett is the creator and leader of SicNarf, a sixteen piece big band based in LA, which has performed multiple shows at the world famous Baked Potato. Everett has a Master’s Degree from UCLA and his Bachelor's in music from California State University Northridge, both in trumpet performance.

Everett's music combines jazz influences with elements of progressive rock, fusion, and cinematic moments. His band SicNarf is inspired by musical artists such as John Daversa, Pat Metheny, Tigran Hamasyan, and Igor Stravinsky, as well as groups like Snarky Puppy, Kneebody, Knower, Mahavishnu Orchestra and many more.

Tiffany Johns

Tiffany Johns is a multi-instrumentalist brass player and keyboardist from Los Angeles, California. Regularly performing and recording across Southern California and beyond, Tiffany maintains a diverse portfolio of musical styles and instruments. Originally from the Washington, D.C. area, Tiffany started on euphonium in the 5th grade. She picked up trombone and bass trombone in high school, and has been hooked on brass doubling ever since. In Southern California, she can be seen most often playing in funk bands, jazz bands, opera orchestras, and the world-famous Disneyland Band. Tiffany has performed and recorded with a number of world-renowned artists, including Bernard Purdie, Bootsy Collins, Fred Wesley, Jason Derulo, and Roddy Ricch. She can be heard on numerous albums on multiple instruments, including two that were Grammy-nominated (Intercambio by the Wayne Wallace Latin Jazz Quintet and Canto América by La Orquesta Sinfonietta).

In addition to performing and recording, Tiffany is an active composer and regional Emmy award-winning arranger. She has had arrangements and compositions performed both in the United States and abroad. When not playing music, Tiffany can be found eating at her favorite taco trucks, thrifting, hanging out with friends at wine bars, or dancing the night away to disco music.

Chris O'Brien

In his hometown of Benicia, CA, the sound of the trumpets could be heard at all hours of the day. Chris was raised in a musical household, where he cultivated a passion for making music with his 2 other trumpet-playing siblings. His education journey took him to the University of Michigan, Penn State University, and the University of Southern California, where he studied with Tom Hooten and Jennifer Marotta.

Chris’ eclectic career has prepared him to be equally at home busking with a jazz combo in San Francisco’s Union Square, performing onstage with the Detroit Symphony Orchestra, or entertaining thousands of guests daily at the Disneyland Resort in Anaheim, CA. Chris also possesses a passion for sharing music online with a global audience exceeding 500,000 viewers through his prolific YouTube channel. Outside of playing the trumpet, Chris enjoys connecting with others through social media and he has presented seminars on content creation at the University of the Pacific and California State University Northridge.
