Spencer Schaffer

Secretary, Co-Founder

Spencer Schaffer is a trombonist from Portland, Oregon. He earned his Bachelor's Degree from Northwestern University in 2020 and recently completed his Masters Degree in Trombone Performance at the Colburn Conservatory of Music under the mentorship of David Rejano Cantero. Spencer has appeared with the Los Angeles Philharmonic, Chicago Symphony Orchestra, Oregon Symphony Orchestra, West Los Angeles Symphony, Southeast Symphony, Kenosha Symphony Orchestra, and Beaverton Symphony Orchestra, among others. He is currently Principal Trombonist of the California Young Artist Orchestra, a position he won in their inaugural season in 2021, and serves as a Co-Founder of the Los Angeles Brass Alliance. He has collaborated with Pink Martini, the Los Angeles Philharmonic Composer Fellows Program, Music to Save Humanity Orchestra, and TEDx. As a sackbut player, Spencer has collaborated with Tesserae Baroque, Musica Transalpina, Bach Collegium San Diego, and Pacific Chorale. Most recently a Trombone Fellow at the 2022 National Orchestral Institute and Festival, he was a Participant at the 2022 Michael Mulcahy Seminar and has previously attended the Miami Music Festival, Boston University Tanglewood Institute Young Artists Program, International Trombone Festival, and Twickenham Music Festival.Â
